En-pointe-cover

You would have read in Lolly’s “The ballet” post what the inspirations for our most recent editorial were. We wanted to think feminine, think glamorous and think….pink. We wanted roses, an abundance of the most beautiful roses, we wanted the prettiest table decor, the most stylish gowns and completely covetable make-up and hair looks.

And why did we want and create all of these ideals? because we want you, our gorgeous readers, to be constantly inspired to have exactly what you want for W-day.

I’ll leave the decoration aspects to Lolly La Pop to take you through later in the feature whilst I go into more detail on the fashion, florals and fancy face paint.

2013-08-05_0013

We concentrated on two main looks for our ballerina Stephanie (yes an actual ballerina – she is also a model but danced for years, those were her very own pointe slippers and the whole team were very jealous of them, even Adam.) a flawless elegant more “traditional” swan lake-esque ballet bun paired with soft shimmering peepers and a pink lip and then a more daring (dare we say HOT) combination of gold glitter liner, a nude pout and a soft yet chic plaited up-do.

2013-08-05_0030

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been a huge fan of a full on pink palette for your face, especially eyeshadow, I’m always wary that if you chose the wrong tone and you could end up with lids that look sore, not sexy. Make-up artist Jodie Hazelwood showed us exactly how it’s done and as a result I’m very tempted to give the whole thing a whirl in the very near future (the exact products used and the how-to is coming to RMW tomorrow folks.)

2013-08-05_0014

Glitter liner and nude lipstick however are some of my evening wear staples and paired with some of the statement headpieces we picked out looked AMAZING. If you did fancy changing your make-up a little from perhaps a more natural “ceremony” look to something a little more edgy for your reception then this might be a viable option.

2013-08-05_0016

For foxy frockage we worked with two designers, Suzanne Neville for our classic ballet and Ritva Westenius for our slinky señorita. The single most important prop that we wanted (there was absolutely no room for negotiation) was a SWING. A gold shimmering swing tied with huge roses and ribbons. Adam made it himself using plywood and rope. It was amazing, and on Friday we’ll be showing you how you can make your very own.

2013-08-05_0015

As well as a DIY swing there was also a giant frame – perfect as a backdrop for your portraits or wedding photo booth. Our version cost about twenty quid and took all of about an hour to make, when we take you through how to build your own swing we’ll show you how to create this giant luxe frame too as we’re so generous and all.

2013-08-05_0017

The headpieces were from a selection by Halo and Co supplied via Ritva Westenius apart from our pink Scarlett necklace which worked well as a kind of beaded forehead crown – love a multi-use product. The Halo and Co statement mega-jewel design was a particular favourite and with a piece such as this all other accessories can be kept to a minimum or as we chose to style – forgoing any extra adornment altogether except for an extra length lash.

2013-08-05_0019

As Lolly mentioned yesterday, it seems that the decision to keep to just one variety of florals for the big day, has fast been falling out of favour. At RMW HQ we have been sensing a general feeling that roses are deemed as a bit unimaginative, a bit safe. We want to rectify this situation as we LOVE roses, there are so many types and colours and ways to display and bouquet-tie them that the options are endless.

2013-08-05_0018

For Stephanie’s first swing scene (wearing Suzanne Neville’s Cascade – will someone, anyone please wear this for their wedding and send us some pictures?!…) a loose bouquet of long-stemmed roses was created and I think you’ll agree, they look so ruddy romantic. Like something out of a (very stylish) fairytale. Love Lust List member and florist Lorraine at Wild Orchid Design understood our requirements perfectly and went on to create an equally beautiful posy of peach, pink and white using Juliet David Austin roses, O’Hara roses, Bombastic roses, Nigella, champagne lithianthus and sweet pea.

Needless to say, they smelt like heaven.

2013-08-05_0021

Did I mention all of the hanging decor and table stationery that you can download and use to create your very own? well you can, we chose tones of red and you guessed it…pink but you are of course able to print the designs on any coloured paper of your choice, the DIY tutorial is coming soon to RMW but as you can see, there are all kinds of uses, from chair backs to place settings to favours.

2013-08-05_0023

We’ve mentioned non-ivory or white gowns as an option for aisle strutting many times on RMW, please don’t discount a slightly unusual shades before you’ve tried them lovelies – The Gatsby by Ritva Westenius was Stephanie’s favourite gown of all, the peachy blush hue suited her skin tone so well and the back detail well…..I die.

2013-08-06_0003

Personally I couldn’t choose a favourite dress (I picked them all for the shoot in the first place as they were my favourites so it’s difficult) but if I was to pick a number that is as equally show-stopping as it is universally flattering then it would be Suzanne Neville’s Cherish. The cut around the bust line is perfection and the sleeve detail is so intricate and delicate you really wouldn’t need to wear anything else at all.

2013-08-05_0020

And who were we going to use to capture our outdoors dance production? Why Love Lust List member Jonny from M and J Photos of course. M and J specialise in European destination photography but also spend time shooting pretty weddings in the UK. Their style suited our vision perfectly and we are so pleased with the results, if you’ve not already chosen your photographers then make sure you take a butchers at their portfolio.

2013-08-06_0001

Lolly La Pop Talks Table Decor: Our ballet inspired desires were heavily influenced by the French interpretation of ‘Romantic’ Ballet. Think of traditional short white tutus, pointe shoes, Swan Lake, acrobatic movements, luxurious stage sets decked out in gold leaf, long-stemmed roses and bejewelled headpieces. Where the Prima Ballerina can simultaneously personify the delicate damsel and the powerful amazonian goddess.

In the very early stages it was clear that we wanted to stage two table set-ups; one that a prima ballerina would be more than happy to sup at – think super luxe and overly extravagant and another that would be kept deliberately simple but no less effective.

2013-08-05_0028

A nod to the ballet was made in several other ways too; in the form of pointe shoes, strung nonchalantly from the rungs of a free standing ladder accompanied by roses filling golden etched dishes and in our limited edition ‘dance’ prints on candy pink patterned backgrounds.

Swathes of pink linen, candy striped silken runners and decadent glassware, the prettiest colour pop plates and glistening golden cutlery were gathered together in much the same way as Sleeping Beauty’s dress was created by Flora and Merryweather in the Disney classic to create what I can only describe as the most romantic tablescape I’ve ever seen.

2013-08-05_0031

It was important to create a sense of contrast, of depth in this table setting hence the addition of the striped pink and white runner over the soft pink linen tablecloth and the hot pink glass plates against the golden cutlery. This hinted of the subtle nuances that are so often present in stage ballets. Add to that a plethora of the most perfumed hot pink, creamy white and blush roses and lithianthus of all different sizes in a classical urn and you’ve got yourself the grand finale.

2013-08-05_0029

The second tablescape was an altogether more simple affair using a nude pink and white colour scheme and oodles of cut crystal vases and etched glass. Cut glass is currently enjoying a resurgence at the moment (I for one am a sucker!) and is the perfect accompaniment to the old school garden and spray roses which filled the length of the table. We sourced our vases from eBay which we we picked up for pennies.

2013-08-05_0025

One of the beautiful things I love about the ballet is what is technically referred to as ‘Ballon’. Ballon is the appearance of being lightweight and light-footed while jumping – a sense of effortless grace, a weightlessness. It was this quality that I wanted to capture as well as create in the table settings.

2013-08-05_0027

We set about creating a deliberately simple set-up i.e. one plate and a knife and fork with only a subtly embroidered off-white napkin. It was important not to add too much colour to this tablescape to allow the flowers to shine albeit with a touch of help from the golden detailing in the napkin rings. Slender glassware with lace inspired etched detail finished the look perfectly and added a sense of lightness to the proceedings.

We couldn’t help but vamp the more sedate table setting up a little bit with a super sweet stationery detail inspired by ‘Love Hearts’ hung lovingly from silky ribbons on the backs of the wooden chairs.

The piece de resistance if you like.

2013-08-05_0024

Love Lust List member Julia from Freya’s Fancies more than stepped up to our requests for tongue-in-cheek biscuits that Miss ‘Gossip Girl’ herself would have been proud of. We’d discussed at length the idea of shaped biscuits iced in ombre shades – from icy white all the way through to blush pink to harmonise with the wider colour scheme. Whilst I loved the idea of miniature x’s and o’s, it was Julia that suggested that we needed to throw some hearts into the mix and they complemented each other perfectly.

Team RMW love the idea of boxing these delights into miniature parcels and bestowing them on guests as the sweetest wedding favour – guaranteed to keep the old and young alike entertained.

2013-08-05_0032

As with all inspiration shoots, versatility is incredibly important to us. With wedding budgets often pushed to their limits, we adore those finishing touches that not only are kind on the pocket but can be used in multiple forms too. We looped dozens of ribbons – from thick pink velvet, thin golden strands all the way through to candy coloured silk over a branch and threaded the ‘love hearts’ from the second tablescape onto them for the perfect piece of romantic decor.

We particularly love the idea of using this as the backdrop of a photobooth or even a wedding guestbook. Personalise this DIY one step further by customising the love hearts with your own sentimental phrases.

Amanda Wyatt The Ascot Collection The Ascot Collection By Amanda Wyatt.

You know how much we love a fancy frock right?

We love receiving a sneak peek of a brand new collection that is beautifully styled and photographed and then have the opportunity to feature all of the gorgeous gowns in the hope that one of you lovelies might just discover “The One” on these very pages.

This afternoon we’re sharing Amanda Wyatt’s new Ascot Collection, a delectable combination of soft layered tulle, luxury lace and simple yet elegant shapes. Amanda’s focus was on “textures that feel as beautiful on the skin as they look” and each gown has a very fluid silhouette, super flattering yet easy breezy to wear.

My favourite is the Freja, such delicate detailing – love the accessorising of statement earrings and sexy gloves.

And did I mention these dresses start from just £900? Oh yes they do.

I now officially want some blue/grey shutters for my home, not entirely sure where they are going to go but I’m going to figure it out.

Short And Chic.

Cover Image quote1 Short And Chic.

This week’s inspiration post is short and sweet.

I say short for two reasons; namely because the focus of today’s piece is all about big-day barnet inspiration for you lovelies with cropped locks but also because the length of this post is somewhat…well um…condensed compared to the usual post that appears here every Monday afternoon.

“But why?”, I hear you cry. Bear with me folks, I’ll come onto that in a moment but first I want to address something with you.

How many of you have experienced the age-old ‘wedding day hair’ quagmire in the run up to your nuptials? The ‘I must grow my hair for the big day’ phenomenon so that you have more ‘options’ on the day itself? Hmmmm, I thought so….there’s a fair few of you out there aren’t there.

I’m not judging you ladies, I too succumbed to the imagined (?) pressure of growing out my mane for my wedding or more specifically my fridge – a decision made exactly one day after the boy proposed just so that I’d be able to ‘do more’ with my tresses without being hampered by any length restrictions.

I’m still not convinced it was the right choice. As it happened, I wore the majority of my hair down on the day so I’m not exactly sure that having a fringe would have made much difference. What will I think in five years time when I look back at the photos? Well that remains to be seen…

Short Chic Wedding Hair Inspiration 0043 Short And Chic.

Here at RMW HQ we often receive impassioned cries for help from our dedicated RMW-ettes on a variety of different topics. But the one issue that keeps rearing its hairy head (sorry couldn’t resist!) time and time again is that of bridal ideas and inspiration for brides with barnets of the short variety.

And so I set out on a mission to assist you lovely lot by hunting down the best barnets this side of short-haired town…which brings me onto the reason why this particular post is so concise.

It seems, folks, that inspiration for those girls with shorter do’s is somewhat thin on the ground. In fact, what you can see here is the culmination of two full days of searching the interweb for gorgeous images of bobbed and pixie cropped brides.

Pitiful isn’t the word.

In fact I was dismayed that there weren’t more gorgeous images of short and chic bridal hair; which probably goes some way in explaining why so many of you choose to grow your hair out for your wedding. Despite looking like a street urchin myself with a bob (trust me I still haven’t got over the psychological scars caused by my mother taking me to the hairdressers to have my tumbling locks cut off whilst I was rendered mute by tonsillitis) I admire those women that can carry off a shorter haired look. In fact there’s nothing quite so chic as a wide-eyed bride with a pixie mop – see Audrey for the ultimate in sophistication.

So why is this so?

Is there an unspoken expectancy that a bride should have long hair on her wedding day in much the same way as we assume that she’ll be wearing a white frock to say her vows?

Is it purely a case of practicality in that it’s just so much easier to curl and tong and twist and pin when there’s more hair to play with? Do you feel more feminine, more comfortable when your tresses fall past your shoulders? Does your other half prefer you with a tumbling mane and are you influenced by their preferences?

I’m hoping we can have a bit of a discussion this afternoon as I’m really interested to hear other folks’ thoughts on the whole short-haired debate.

Short Chic Wedding Hair Inspiration 0044 Short And Chic.

By my reckoning, short-haired do’s are the way to go particularly if you’re a bride that’s keen to integrate a statement headpiece into your outfit. Rather than your hair taking over the show you can allow your glistening pins, feather garnishes and glitzy circlets to shine against a sedate yet coiffed background. Plus a supersized veil against a gamine cut always looks a little bit twiggy, a little bit 1960s doesn’t it…

And you can’t beat the sixties now can you?

So are you a perfect pixie girl or a bobbed beauty?

Do you know how you’ll be styling your barnet on your big day or are you still at a loss for ideas?

Have you decided to grow out your mane for your big day and will you be lopping it all off afterwards?

I want to hear all about it!

All my love Lolly xxx

P.S. If you’re looking for hair inspiration for your big day why not check out our Pinterest board for your barnet right here. We promise you’ll find something to love.

Libertie collection by Britten weddings Timeless And Effortlessly Classic Heirlooms.

That’s exactly what vintage-inspired accessories brand Britten have created with the launch of their 2014 Libertié Collection.

Inspired by the style and glamour of the Edwardian golden age, the Liberté Collection reflects the fusion of Art Nouveau and British Luxuries that became synonymous with King Edward VII’s reign.

I know, fancy schmancey.

There are twenty four bespoke pieces to choose from, all hand made at the Britten workshop in Bath. As well as some show-stopping headpieces the Libertié Collection also offers a selection of feminine bags and the most spectacular marabou feather fan, the ultimate in evening glamour. Or I’m thinking an alternative to a bridesmaid bouquet perhaps?

Britten 2014 Liberte Collection vintage inspired bridal wedding accessories headpieces 0153 Timeless And Effortlessly Classic Heirlooms.

I have (as you can imagine) quite a few favourites but I think the Darcy might be my top pick, you see so much “headpiece” styling with sophisticated up-do’s yet I love how these images are also presented with long flowing (and ridiculously glossy) locks. I wonder what shampoo the model uses…think I might try and find out.

And the make-up, did I mention that? this palette of apricot and bronze is perfection for W-day, modern and pretty yet still uber natural.

cover A Boho Earth Child Themed Bridal Inspiration Shoot Gowns by Diane Harbridge Images from Phil Drinkwater The Earth Child.

I think inspiration from nature is the best kind – and this magical shoot is no exception. Warm earthy tones were the inspiration behind the make up. Flowers and feathers were utilised for the accessories and the images are radiant and glowing from the hazy sunlight.

The idea behind the shoot was to create a Boho earth-child styled Bride, with one of the aims being to create accessories that looked as if they had been gathered by hand.

These utterly gorgeous floral crowns could easily be replicated for your wedding day. Lucy the stylist behind this shoot recommends using silk flowers from your local garden centre, this also eliminates any risk of wilting AND you have a floral crown for life, not just for your wedding day.

The Diane Harbridge gowns used are all so elegant and understated that they can be paired with amazing accessories, but they are still gorgeous in their own right. The Iris has a detachable cape, the Sweet Pea a key-hole back and delicate lace cap sleeves. The Tulip has a figure hugging fishtail shape and my personal favourite, the Ruby, has an amazing high neck and collar detail.

Not only do we have amazing gowns and accessories, but photographer Phil Drinkwater has managed to perfectly capture the warm haze of a British summer’s day slowly ebbing away into a pink sunset.

Get ready people – this shoot really is quite magical.

A Beautiful Natural Backdrop

Lucy The Stylist: The story behind the shoot was to create a boho, earth child style bride. The woodland/meadow setting provided a beautiful natural backdrop which took our girl from the late afternoon sunshine to a candlelit evening.

I used tea lights in jam jars, ribbons catching the breeze and a delicate lace tepee to set the scene.
Hair accessories echoed her surrounding – I wanted to create pieces that gave the impression they were made from found materials. Using feathers and flowers gave an elegant but relaxed look.

Iris

Dress Designer Diana Harbridge: This gown is very Victoriana looking with its detachable cape and intricate lace detail. The gown itself is made from two beautiful lace cloths that have been layered to give it its unusual look.

Lucy The Stylist: The baby’s breath crown is a simple and relatively inexpensive way to create a simple, romantic, bohemian feel.

Sweet Pea

Diane Harbridge: This vintage inspired mocha/ivory gown is made from the most beautiful lace. It’s cut out key-hole back detail gives it that unique look and is finished with a satin sash that chinches in at the waist emphasising those curves. This gown is also available in all ivory.

Ruby

Diane Harbridge: This straight fitting all over lace gown has that most beautiful high neckline that goes into a cute little collar. Finishing touches to this dress include buttons that run right the way from the top of the neck to the end of the train.

Lucy The Stylist: Silk flowers can be used alongside real ones to create beautiful floral crowns. Your local garden centre is a good place to look.

Tulip

Diane Harbridge: This mocha/ivory antic lace gown has the most amazing fishtail shape. With a satin sash cinching in at the waist this gown really showcases those fabulous curves. This gown is also available in all ivory.

The Warmth Of The Summer Sun

Claire The Make Up Artist: The hair and makeup needed to have a relaxed boho feel. I gave Amy’s hair a soft wave without too much product which allowed her hair to move freely in the gentle breeze. All hair products used were from Tresemme and Schwarzkopf.

The makeup I chose was all about shades and tones that would bring together the warmness of Amy’s hair, the warmth of the summer evening sunshine and the shade of the flower headdresses created by Lucy. Make up was from MAC and Bobbi Brown.

I also used warm tone products with light reflective shimmer in them so they would catch the sunlight and bring out the blue in Amy’s eyes.

A Boho Earth Child Themed Bridal Inspiration Shoot Gowns by Diane Harbridge Images from Phil Drinkwater 0007 The Earth Child.

Soft And Gentle Light

Phil The Photographer: The story called for a wide variety of natural lighting options, from soft gentle backlighting of the afternoon, through late evening sunset across the trees, to actual sunset.

Into the night, the scene was lit by an Icelight which gave a soft and gentle feel and was set to a similar brightness to the tea lights. Amy was positioned and posed in natural environments to complement the natural material used throughout.

Hello, I’m Louise and I’m the very proud co-owner of brand new fashion-forward bridal boutique, Churchgate Porter.

We’ve just opened our doors to stylish brides in the picturesque village of Fletching in East Sussex. Stocking a handpicked selection of independent, international designers such as Sarah Janks, Charlotte Casadejus, Patrick Casey and Anne Bowen, as well as accessories by Flo & Percy and shoes from Freya Rose, we’ve chosen everything from the décor to our stock with free-thinking, creative brides in mind.

We’re so excited for the future, but we always want to keep sight of how, and why, we got here. That’s why I’d love to tell Rock My Wedding readers all about our journey to becoming bridal boutique owners – and why we’re different to your average pastel pink wedding dress shop.

churchgate porter 01 RMW Rates Churchgate Porter

I first ventured to the small and charming, quintessentially English village of Fletching in the winter of 2008, with my then husband to be. It was an extremely romantic scene. Cold, dark and frosty – the air felt a little bit magical, the centuries-old buildings were illuminated by twinkling Christmas lights. We enjoyed fresh Bloody Marys by an open fire in the dimly lit 17th Century Inn and instantly felt very, very at home.

In love with the ambience and community spirit, we bought a lovely house called Churchgate Cottage and married in the village church in 2009. It was a very pretty place to say ‘I do’ and also rather perfect as a gate leads directly from our back garden into the churchyard. The day we married was like a wonderful dream – I tiptoed out of the gate in my bright pink Louis Vuittons wearing a simple but stunning Italian dress, and skipped my way up the aisle, my heart skipping along with me, to meet my husband Adam.

It all sounds like a fairytale, and, to be honest, it still feels like one, but fairytales usually end with a wedding. My wedding was just the beginning of an incredible journey for me. I realised that Fletching, the scene of my own, private fairytale, was the perfect place showcase my love for the arts, fashion and all things bridal, The breathtaking location would make a fantastic day out for a bride and her bridal party – with a real vision in mind I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I knew I had found my passion. I knew I wanted to open a super little bridal boutique.

Something Chic But Simple

I set about making plans for my dream boutique. As a bride looking for a dress, I wanted something different, something chic but simple – I didn’t want a meringue, and pastel pink wasn’t really my thing. I loved the idea of juxtaposing a stylish, industrial-feel boutique against the backdrop of the Sussex countryside. Using the 17th century design features of the building to create a feeling of the warmth and cosiness we first fell in love with when we visited Fletching, I gave the space an NYC high-end fashion makeover. This really married the best of both worlds and represented my fairytale – the fashionista in the countryside. I could have literally taken the moment I stepped down the country path in my Louis Vuittons and translated it into a concept for a boutique for likeminded ladies.

I have spent several years building my business, and now at last I’ve flung open the doors and invited the world in! Finally, Churchgate Porter is born. Located at Churchgate House, next door to the village church, it’s a combination of a fashion-forward boutique and a porter service. We welcome the creative, quirky, unique and style-conscious bride who knows her own mind, and then we give her the advice, support and tools they needs to make her day a true representation of who she really is, or who she wants to be.

I’m not a big fan of fussy over-styled shops with over-the-top service, which translates into the type of bride that comes to visit me. She is independent and wants to relax into choosing her dress in her own way – no pressure and no cupcakes (or meringues, for that matter) here. We offer advice when it’s wanted and needed through style consultations and our one-on-one by-appointment-only service means that brides get our full care and attention from the minute they step over our threshold to the day they cross over their own!

The designers have been each handpicked by me with a lot of care and thought. The very definition of the word “individual” means that there’s no one way to be an individual – that’s why we have such an eclectic mix of unusually beautiful dresses. From the timeless vintage style of Charlotte Casadejus to the graceful and sophisticated designs of Patrick Casey and Sarah Janks, to the simple and elegant gowns all the way from New York by desiger Anne Bowen – we have pre-selected our brides’ dream dresses – they’re just waiting to be discovered.

If you’re a bride with eclectic and artistic tastes, with a strong mind and a big heart, please do get in touch or visit our website churchgateporter.com, we would love to hear from you and take care of you until you say “I do”.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

fashion pack 00011 The RMW Fashion Pack Official Launch!

At RMW HQ we are always looking at ways we can develop and evolve, new and innovative features that you, our amazing community, will find useful and inspirational.

We’ve been considering a specific fashion led platform for some time now, we receive numerous requests and suggestions as to where our readers can access the latest designer collections so it made sense for us to create an area on the blog that would offer exactly that facility.

For the last six months we’ve been busy approaching some of our favourite (and your favourite!) designers to join our aptly named “Fashion Pack” and become part of the Rock My Wedding family.

You will now see a very sexy new tab on the main menu bar labelled “Designer Collections“, give it a click and you will find yourselves faced with options of bridal fashion, bridesmaids, grooms and accessories. The latter two will be launching in the coming months but in the meantime we’ve got a whole host of delicious dresses for you to admire and share.

The gallery format enables you to Pin, Tweet and Facebook each gown until your hearts content and in the not too distant future we’ll be putting together all sorts of fashion-y boards on the Rock My Wedding pinterest.

The bridal and bridesmaid gown designers that are part of The RMW Fashion Pack are chosen not only because they create some of the most beautiful dresses on the planet, but because they genuinely want every single one of their brides to have the most amazing experience ever. The Adagio Collection – Inspired By The Ballet.

Debbie Carlisle DC Bouquets Adagio Collection The Adagio Collection Inspired By The Ballet.

It’s no secret that Team RMW are huge fans of the ballet, we produced a whole styled editorial inspired by it. We’re also fans of Love Lust List member Debbie Carlise and her pretty unique headpiece and jewellery designs for brides.

For her latest “Adagio” collection Debbie has also taken inspiration from all that is Swan Lake – the grace, femininity and dreamy fluidity of the ballet.

Do let us know which piece is your favourite lovelies.

The Debbie Carlisle Adagio Collection Of Bridal Headpieces 2014 0202 The Adagio Collection Inspired By The Ballet.

Debbie Carlisle: In the past I’ve been strongly influenced by vintage styles and while this is still the case, in this collection I’ve moved on to create something that combines classic styling with a much more contemporary edge and a very feminine, ethereal feel. I think the ballet really encapsulates the effortless grace a lot of brides want to feel on their wedding day and the prima ballerina with her combination of strength and femininity was something I really kept in mind while designing the new collection.

The Debbie Carlisle Adagio Collection Of Bridal Headpieces 2014 0204 The Adagio Collection Inspired By The Ballet.

Adagio consists of nine new headpiece designs plus a few reworked old favourites and, for the first time, I have added a new element to my accessories – earrings. I’ve had so many requests from brides looking for earrings that would work with my other accessories that I decided to add a selection of pieces to my website that reflect my style and would work with my headpieces and vintage jewellery bouquets. The result is a collection of 22 pairs of beautiful pierced and clip-on earrings that work perfectly with my style and range from timelessly elegant studs like Odette (£45) and Ophelia (£35) to full-on Hollywood-style showstoppers like Eva (£60) and Hattie (£85).

The Debbie Carlisle Adagio Collection Of Bridal Headpieces 2014 0205 The Adagio Collection Inspired By The Ballet.

The Adagio collection includes some of my most versatile headpieces yet. The Ophelia (£95) and Darcey (£145) circlet halos are real-multi-taskers which can be worn on the crown of the head with the encrusted diamante embellishments resting on the forehead or at the side of the head – or pinned into place as a double-strand forehead band or looped at the back of the head over loose bohemian curls or under a high top knot bun.

The Debbie Carlisle Adagio Collection Of Bridal Headpieces 2014 0206 The Adagio Collection Inspired By The Ballet.

Aurora is available either as an off-centre black satin headband (£125) with three flower and leaf elements which seem to float independently on the hair – or as separate combs (£55 and £30) which can be worn on their own or arranged in different groupings.

The Titania forehead jewel (£35) is a delicate droplet design made up of Swarovski crystals and pearls dangling from a slim sparkling gold or silver-plated chain which can be pinned into place across the forehead or at the back or side of the head and can be worn with matching Titania gold or silver droplet earrings (£25).

The Debbie Carlisle Adagio Collection Of Bridal Headpieces 2014 0203 The Adagio Collection Inspired By The Ballet.

Carmen (£125) is a delicate diamante and pearl beaded wedding headband which ties with an ethereal slim ivory organza ribbon at the back of the head or the nape of the neck for comfort and perfect fit. Carmen can be worn as a forehead band as well as in tiara or traditional headband position.

The Odette wedding headband (£165) is a statement headpiece which groups a cluster of leaves encrusted with shimmering glass seed and bugle beads around a glittering diamond-shaped crystal centrepiece that oozes old Hollywood glamour. Brides looking for a simpler style – or a smaller version for their bridesmaids – can choose Odette’s baby sister, the Juliet comb (£75), which groups six shimmering leaves around a smaller diamante circular centrepiece for a more delicate look. A birdcage veil (£30) can also be added to create a more striking vintage look.

Coppelia (£135) combines the feel of a traditional bridal tiara with a more modern wedding headband style for a classic and contemporary look and comes as standard on a black satin ribbon-wrapped headband – or brides can choose a colour of their choice to tone with their hair.

The Debbie Carlisle Adagio Collection Of Bridal Headpieces 2014 0207 The Adagio Collection Inspired By The Ballet.

Margot (£35) is a simple and classic bridal comb perfect for the understated bride – or to delicately accessorise a bold statement gown. Equally at home on bridesmaids, Margot mixes round, oval and marquise cut crystals to create an effortlessly elegant diamond-shaped design.

Rosa (£125) is a new take on an old favourite – a delicate floral comb created from pearly white and silver tone glass beads with a delicate ivory pearl beaded centre. The bugle beads give the piece real warmth which makes it work perfectly with white, ivory and gold tones.

The Debbie Carlisle Adagio Collection Of Bridal Headpieces 2014 0209 The Adagio Collection Inspired By The Ballet.

The Lavish Olivia comb (£155) is a statement version of my existing three-leaf Olivia comb. The new version sees five subtly shimmering leaves embellished with glass bugle and seed beads grouped around a single glittering circular diamante centrepiece.

There’s also a new take on my Lola garter design (£45) for the new collection – a nude gathered tulle creation which features a gorgeous diamante and pearl droplet for the ultimate in luxury and decadence.

I’m so proud of the new collection and of the photographs produced to showcase the new designs. I always ask wedding and editorial photographer India Hobson to photograph my collections because I love the way she uses natural light to create such beautiful, ethereal painterly images and I think she’s outdone herself this year.

The Debbie Carlisle Adagio Collection Of Bridal Headpieces 2014 0208 The Adagio Collection Inspired By The Ballet.

I also loved the make-up look Zoe Peplow created for gorgeous model Victoria, mixing neutral tones with strong lashes and eyebrows and red lips for a classic and glamorous look which combines strength with femininity. I particularly loved the top knot Zoe effortlessly created by tying Victoria’s hair on top of her head, back-combing the pony tail for massive volume and then roughly plaiting the first half of the ponytail and leaving the bottom section loose before wrapping it around itself to create a rough top knot and pinning it into place. I love how glamorous yet relaxed this style looks –and the fact it is so easy to achieve!

The Debbie Carlisle Adagio Collection Of Bridal Headpieces 2014 0210 The Adagio Collection Inspired By The Ballet.

Debbie’s new collection is available to view and buy online now on her website. Debbie will be unveiling the entire new collection in person for the first time at the Designer Vintage Bridal Show in Birmingham on October 12 and 13 where you can see and try the pieces on and chat to Debbie about the best way to style your wedding day look.

Girls… Let’s Play Dress Up.

Cover Image quote Girls... Lets Play Dress Up.

One of my favourite parts of being a bridesmaid, aside from the hand-holding, dress-fluffing, lipgloss-applying and worry-soothing is the dress-up part. The one where you tumble with your best girls into a plethora of shops to find the dress or dresses that will accompany the ‘big white one’ down the aisle.

There’s usually lots of giggles at ill-fitting frocks, the odd grimace or two, material tweaking, the appearance of some industrial sized bulldog clips and then that awed silence and those spontaneous grins when you know that you’ve found the ‘one’.

If you’re really really lucky you might find the gown of your dreams on your first attempt which leaves plenty of time to spend instead at the nearest cocktail bar. Granted this has yet to happen to me…

Perhaps the above hasn’t been your experience, after all many modern brides are more than happy to leave their maids to their own devices albeit with a colour stipulation or a certain dress style in mind. Whilst I love the freedom that such a decision entails, I can’t help but think of the missed opportunity for a girly day out and a bit of banter.

Anyway I digress. As you’ve probably guessed today’s post is all about ‘the maids’ or more specifically maid fashion straight from the high street smack bang onto the screen in front of you.

Come on, let’s take a look.

A Whiter Shade Of Pale

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the neutral bridal party trend is not going away.

Whereas we’ve seen peaches, champagnes and nudes rule the roost in previous seasons, we’re beginning to notice the dominance of starker off-whites, ivories and ice queen shades this time round lending a more contemporary vibe to bridal parties than the soft rustic elegance of old.

Whilst simple sheath dresses pack a modernist punch, brides are beginning to more comfortably experiment with texture and pattern – think ruffles, intricate beadwork and contrasting fabrics. The beautiful shoulder detailing on the Ted Baker dress below, the fringing on the Miss Selfridge frock and the glitzy beading on the Hobbs gown are all gorgeous examples of how to ‘work’ such a trend.

A Glamorous And Sophisticated Bridesmaids High Street Fashion And Inspiration Post For Your Big Day That Wont Break The Bank 3 Girls... Lets Play Dress Up.

Whether you’re a city bride hosting a cocktail inspired big day or a midsummer countryside bride you can be sure that this colour scheme will work for you. The neutrality of such a theme means that your chosen dresses will work harmoniously with different types of accessories, hair styles, flowers and shoes. Talking of which, those Zara flats are to die for.

Just one last thing – don’t feel that you have to have to choose blooms within a similar colour spectrum to your maids’ dresses. Whilst most weddings utilising an overall white or neutral colour scheme tend to use similarly toned flowers don’t forget that this look works beautifully for bolder wedding colour choices too, and bright blooms really pop against an unassuming background.

True Blue

I’m not going to lie to you girls.

This moodboard was inspired purely by this Coast clutch at the top here…oh and those Zara flats. There’s something special about the combination of cobalt blue and silver – a combination that I’m regularly testing out in my day-to-day wardrobe so it seemed only right to introduce it into today’s maidenly mix.

A Glamorous And Sophisticated Bridesmaids High Street Fashion And Inspiration Post For Your Big Day That Wont Break The Bank 2 Girls... Lets Play Dress Up.

On a serious note though blue hues are strong, elegant and classic and flatter all skin tones and hair colours. It’s not surprising therefore that it continues to be one of the most popular colour trends for bridesmaid attire.

If you’re looking for a modern interpretation on this steadfast hue then I’d recommend introducing a statement necklace or snappy tailoring into the mix. Maids in short suits anyone? I’m first in the queue!

Gothic Princess

Whilst it’s not necessarily considered traditional, dozens of you lovely lot are choosing to dress your bridal party in black – yes that means the girls too.

And why the hell not? Darker shades are chic, incredibly flattering and the prevalence of the hue means that you’re pretty much guaranteed to find a frock, trouser suit or skirt and top combo to suit all body shapes and sizes.

If you like the idea but still feel a little bit apprehensive about using such a statement colour then it’s worth choosing pieces that have oodles of delicate detailing for example using chiffon overlays, lace detailing and embroidered panels. This dress is my favourite…

A Glamorous And Sophisticated Bridesmaids High Street Fashion And Inspiration Post For Your Big Day That Wont Break The Bank 1 Girls... Lets Play Dress Up.

Still feeling nervous? Why not opt for a smokey green frock instead or charcoal grey which will still embody that seductive vibe without the full impact that an all-black colour scheme possesses.

Alternatively break things up by introducing accessories of a different hue – we love this bag and this dainty necklace for the perfect finishing touches to your outfit.

Favourites From The RMW Team

We thought we’d finish up with some favourites from the rest of the RMW team and their hot picks from the High Street which are all available to purchase right now! Without realising it, the RMW girls have subconsciously chosen their favourite pieces using a colour scheme of blues, mauves, pinks and lilacs.

Spooky eh? Nonetheless we love it and we think you dollfaces might like it too.

Fern is in lust with this Boden beauty particularly with the soft blue shade which complements this adorable tutu for baby bridesmaids perfectly.

Always on the hunt for something a little bit different she’s also selected this floral and mesh number from Miss Selfridge which would be just the ticket for winter bridesmaids since it comes in burgundy too. And finally, you can’t go wrong with some pink feathers for a touch of warmth in the churchyard.

The lovely Lauren C has fallen head over heels for this mocha toned lacy number which you can chicly accessorise with this elegant Jasper Conran Clutch. Come on, a girl has to carry her lippy and powder somewhere hasn’t she?!

A Glamorous And Sophisticated Bridesmaids High Street Fashion And Inspiration Post For Your Big Day That Wont Break The Bank 4 Girls... Lets Play Dress Up.

Becky thinks these these statement gold shoes from Coast via Debenhams are Ace with a capital ‘A’. You heard the girl! She also loves blue….and lace…but she really really loves it when your lacy maids are your something blue. Lastly she’s thrown in her Laura Ashley wild card ‘not somewhere I would think to shop for dresses…more like curtains’ but I think this frock is epic nonetheless.

So there you have it..words from the mouths of the RMW girls themselves.

Which is your favourite?

And how will you be dressing your girls on your big day? In noir, off-white or true blues? Perhaps you’ve opted for something else entirely… if so, we want to know your thoughts.

Like right now…

All my love Lolly xxx

Mermaid Cover I Believe In Mermaids The Fashion.

Lolly shared the dreamy decor yesterday and this afternoon I’m going to share the fashion aspect of our most recent editorial “I Believe In Mermaids“.

If you had yourself a peek at the inspiration behind the design “Under The Sea” then you will know we were aiming for a sexier more grown up aesthetic than the Disney classic. One of our real brides Sophie commented that the templates reminded her of Chris Issak’s music video for “Wicked Game”. This was the biggest compliment ever as that is one of my top ten music videos (and songs) of all time.

We (as in Team RMW) gain inspiration from everywhere and it’s got to be said, very rarely from our own industry. We look to interior trends, the catwalk, art, design and yes, more often than not music and film too.

Mermaid wedding inspiration at Camber Sands by Gary Lashmar 0242 I Believe In Mermaids The Fashion.

Organising something like this on a beach in the UK is always going to be risky. We actually didn’t want the sun to come out with his hat on but we certainly didn’t want rain. We wanted that slightly moody overcast cloud whilst ensuring we all stayed dry. Hmmm. Nothing like trying to be particular with Mother Nature.

Anyone that has visited the sandy shores of Camber sands will know that it can get incredibly windy. This is ace for the look we were going for (at least for the most part) but not so much when you are trying to build a construction out of bamboo poles and large swathes of linen. Picture Adam up a ladder and various members of the team trying with all our might to prevent the entire thing from taking off much like a rather large sailboat on dry land.

I don’t know who said this job was glamorous, it certainly wasn’t me.

Mermaid wedding inspiration at Camber Sands by Gary Lashmar 0243 I Believe In Mermaids The Fashion.

All in the name of creating the perfect composition though right? We think it did. Although the whole door thing was way easier. It just got put in the van. And propped up on the sand.

Me: I need to borrow the spare door we have in the garage for my shoot.
Mr O’Shea: Ok…What are you going to do with a door?
Me: Just stand it up in the middle of the beach with the crashing waves um….behind it.
Mr O’Shea: Why would you just have a random door stuck in the middle of a beach?
Me: Because I can see it in my head and it my head it looks immense.
Mr O’Shea: Right. I guess I’ll take your word for it.

Mermaid wedding inspiration at Camber Sands by Gary Lashmar 0244 I Believe In Mermaids The Fashion.

I may be biased, but I liked it. A lot. You may have seen doors used as wedding decor before – particularly in the States. They look aces at the end of an aisle with pretty blooms and/or lights adorning them.

Why not give it a whirl? especially if you happen to have one y’know, just hanging out in your garage.

Mermaid wedding inspiration at Camber Sands by Gary Lashmar 0245 I Believe In Mermaids The Fashion.

Choosing gowns for I Believe In Mermaids was so much fun, even though I didn’t wear anything near as glitzy for my own big day I would LOVE to see a bride grace these pages in something as sequin adorned as Suzanne Neville’s Twilight (the floor length number with the noticeable um….cleavage).

And if head to toe shimmer seems a little scary maybe just a subtly sparkly bodice such as Naomi Neoh’s Blossom (the one we put in the sea!) might work?

Mermaid wedding inspiration at Camber Sands by Gary Lashmar 0246 I Believe In Mermaids The Fashion.

We accessorised with a few new statement pieces we’ve been experimenting with for Rock My Boutique. I don’t see many brides opt for tiaras these days and that makes me a wee bit sad, I think they used to be viewed as very traditional but with so many styles now available you never know, if you try it you might like it. Do let me know if you fancy one for W-day/are considering the idea.

Mermaid wedding inspiration at Camber Sands by Gary Lashmar 0247 I Believe In Mermaids The Fashion.

Fresh floral crowns have been popular for a while now – we love them and brides can make their choice so personal to them with regards choice of bloom, style and range of colours. For this particular look and in keeping with the general decor we went for something altogether more lush and green. Katherine at Florist In The Forest created a gorgeous wreath of olive leaves and eucalyptus, simple yet stylish.

And the bouquets? Amaze. Dahlias are my new “thing” and you don’t need many to make a huge impact. I’m actually hoping to plant some of my own ready to bloom next year. I’m the least green-fingered person on the planet so that should be interesting.

Mermaid wedding inspiration at Camber Sands by Gary Lashmar 0248 I Believe In Mermaids The Fashion.

As well as our more traditional bridal frockage Fashion Pack members Ted Baker loaned us some of their new collection to shoot, we love the eclectic designs – in particular the mis-match combinations for grooms. There are also some lovely dresses to choose from – perfect for Honeymoon we’re thinking.

You can view more of the collection on the Ted Baker RMWfashion pack profile page.

Emily Kent from The Wedding Hair Company who we also collaborated with on our Coco shoot worked with us to create our very own 21st century Ariel, all windswept tresses and glowing skin.

We’ll be sharing all of the products used and the how-to in a future post folks so you too can make like Daryl Hannah in Splash.

Mermaid wedding inspiration at Camber Sands by Gary Lashmar 0249 I Believe In Mermaids The Fashion.

Emily Kent: With the rugged shores and the crashing waves as our backdrop, hair and make up needed to fit seamlessly with and compliment and the amazing scenery. I started with the hair and created a rough S-wave throughout the lengths. To give it the texture I quite aptly applied sea salt spray creating thickness and body but not in a polished way at all. I incorporated the crystal head piece by creating a messy bouffant behind it and securing in place. Overall finish is a beachy effortless up-do.

Mermaid wedding inspiration at Camber Sands by Gary Lashmar 0253 I Believe In Mermaids The Fashion.

For the make up we went for a soft and iridescent look on both the skin and the eyes. Illuminating powder was swept over the cheek bones which picked up in the silvery light beautifully. Copper hues were used all over the eye and blended with liner seamlessly so as not to create any harsh angles. For the lips a simple moisturising nude was applied keeping them natural. Overall a glossy and beautiful finish.

Mermaid wedding inspiration at Camber Sands by Gary Lashmar 0252 I Believe In Mermaids The Fashion.

In terms of capturing all of this subtly sexy sea-maiden-esque frivolity we chose Love Lust List member Gary Lashmar from Marshal Gray photography. From his previous features on Rock My Wedding we knew he would be the perfect fit and I think you’ll find we were 100% right.

Those bedroom scenes? HOT. Even though there were at least 7 of us in the room with the models whilst they were being photographed, I don’t think you’d ever know.

Headpieces seem to be THE THING at the moment.

Every time we feature a Bride sporting one you lot go crazy for it! Whether it’s vintage, boho or out-and-out Princess style…RMW Brides love headpieces.

Well today we’ve got an absolute feast for your headpiece loving eyes…the latest collection from Donna Crain, styled with gorgeous make up, delicious bouquets and luxurious gowns to show you their true potential.

Personally, I tend to lean towards the boho vibe – I’m coveting the Amelia, made with Swarovski crystals, pearls and a delicate vintage inspired chain that trails beautifully down the back of the head.

And not only do we have loads of accessory pretty for you, but make up artist Adele Rosie has details of all of the products used on the shoot too. We do spoil you lovely lot sometimes don’t we? Enjoy!

Keep It Simple And Natural

Adele Rosie The MUA: It’s so important to get bridal make-up right. From the preparation, product quality, colours and finish – it’s a lot for a bride to think about. So, keep it simple and natural. There’s a fantastic range of products out there to suit all complexions and budgets.

Davinia and Isabella were our models for the day and I created two different looks with each girl, to suit the dresses and Donna’s beautiful accessories.

Statement Eye Colour

With Davinia, I used a statement lilac eyeshadow by Shu Uemera to pick out the gorgeous tone of the flowers (alliums), which also worked well with Davinia’s olive skin tone. To set a good base, I used a Laura Mercier primer followed by a Dior foundation – Diorskin Forever which gives a lovely light but flawless finish.

Any imperfections can be evened out with Vichy Dermablend corrective foundation which should be applied with a very light dab over the foundation base and blended with a brush.

Change The Lips To Change The Look

Cheeks were bronzed with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish pressed powder. This product is great for a matt finish over key areas, but go a couple of shades darker than your skintone and it acts as a wonderful cheek colour. Highlight cheekbones with a pop of colour on the apples of your cheeks on top of the powder in either a pink or peach tone. My favourite blush for brides is MAC Powder Blush in Melba. It suits almost all skin tones. Try a cream blush if you want more of an unfinished natural glow.

To change Davinia’s look, I simply darkened her lips with a lovely rich plum colour to keep the palette on tone, and added a heavier kohl line to her pretty eyes with NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in black.

The Smell Of Summer

Isabella’s look was so easy to work with and could easily take a simple soft bridal make-up, but I wanted her to look a little more edgy for the second look. So I took the shadow out to the corners of her eyes to create a bolder look, but kept her complexion soft and dewy, with a soft slightly glossy lip.

I love Clarins Natural Lip Perfector which is a glossy tube and comes in the prettiest of neutral pinks and peachy tones – I’m using them on all of my brides at the moment. They’re not sticky or gooey, and leave a lovely polished finish, with a gorgeous smell of summer. Just a dab in the middle after your colour application.

Inspiration Shoot Featuring Donna Crain Headpieces With A Bridal Make Up Product Recommendations From Adele Rosie Make Up Artist Images By Cecelina Photography 0005 Heavenly Headpieces.

Tricks Of The Trade

Always use a primer on your eye lids, it will help keep the shadow in place all day – whether you choose powder or cream. I used NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow base.

Also, stay clear of shimmery and glitter shadows – they’re ageing and they don’t work well in photographs. Keep the tone natural with a matte finish in a buttercream colour and a wash of something lighter under the eyebrows to really open the eyes. I like Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow in Ivory as a base.

Soft greys and brown tones work well for brides depending on eye colour. I used a Dior palette – 734 which is a brilliant colour combination for brides.

Lash Fabulous

Build lashes with DiorShow Black Out mascara or Max Factor Masterpiece and go for the waterproof just in case of a few tears! For the big day, I would advise having semi permanent lashes as they look great in photographs, and if done properly can look lovely and natural.

A cheaper alternative is individual lashes applied at the corners for a fresh wide-eyed look. Always apply a fine line over the lashes to build the overall look. It will also conceal any little mascara mistakes. I use gel pots – Bobbi Brown and MAC do great versions. If your hand isn’t so steady, use a pen. I like Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner.

Inspiration Shoot Featuring Donna Crain Headpieces With A Bridal Make Up Product Recommendations From Adele Rosie Make Up Artist Images By Cecelina Photography 0007 Heavenly Headpieces.

Make Up Longevity

For the lips, I used Lipstick Queen in Medieval which is a super light red that builds with application. It’s easy for brides to wear if they want something a little darker, but won’t leave that red stain behind when the lipstick has worn off -not a good look!

To make sure make-up stays, use a finishing spray. Good old MAC do their version in Fix And Spray. It will hydrate your skin, as well as helping to keep your make-up in place all day.

Vintage Chic

Cecelina The Photographer: As every dedicated fashionista knows, vintage chic is huge at the moment. And Donna Crain has a particularly fine appreciation of the luxurious vintage styling loved so much by contemporary blushing brides.

At a recent photo shoot at the delightful, historic Elvetham Hotel in Hampshire, Donna revealed the inspiration for – and reasoning behind – the event.

Delicate Intricate Detail

Images are everything, so part one of the shoot was dedicated to taking stunning shots of Donna’s gorgeous new creations, the latest additions to her popular boho chic collection. And her exquisite, beautifully-crafted Niamh collection deserved professional photoshoot treatment too, bringing it to vibrant life in all its delicious, rich, intricate detail and revealing how to wear the pieces to their best, most magical effect.

Beauty In All It’s Guises

Donna Crain: I’m shamelessly seduced by beauty in all its guises. I just can’t help myself. Creating beautiful objects inspired by the glittering, sophisticated past – whether it’s the 1970s or 1920s – lets me indulge myself and, at the same time, play a part in transforming already outstanding wedding outfits into something absolutely perfect.

The Flowers And Décor

Cecelina: Donna also brought the lovely work of local floral designer Nicci-G’s studio into play to enhance the presentation of her wedding accessories. And The Finer Details provided outstanding craftsman-made invitations for the shoot.

The end results are well worth Donna’s dedication and hard work, a series of images so mouth-wateringly pretty and feminine they make you want to buy her creations lock, stock and barrel before someone else snaps them up… whether or not there’s a wedding on the horizon. The ultimate in temptation!

Tiaras as worn on Downton Abbey by Glitzy Secrets I Want to Look Like Lady Mary Crawley.

I do!

Only a few weeks ago I was watching an episode of Downton Abbey where there was some particularly spiffy dinner/party where various incredibly posh folks (there was an abundance of tweed/equestrian type garb) were coming to stay for the weekend. I exclaimed to Mr O’Shea that I couldn’t quite understand why the whole wear-a-tiara-to-dinner fashion stopped, and that I think I might try and bring it back as a “thing”.

The headpieces were divine. All intricate detail and delicate jewels. I assumed they must be made by some exclusive designer or actual heirlooms borrowed from the 1920′s specifically for the show.

The Glitzy Secrets Twenties Heirloom collection for brides 0333 I Want to Look Like Lady Mary Crawley.

Oh how wrong I was. Turns out Rock My Wedding sponsor Glitzy Secrets were responsible for two of the stunning pieces – worn by Dame Nellie Melba and Lady Mary herself.

New Shoe Inspiration

The Merle & Morris Girls: Getting married is a big deal. Here at Merle & Morris, we’re not the type of girls who have been planning our weddings since we were small, but we understood that when we got engaged, the world changed as we knew it.

I’m getting married in December and I know first-hand that the choices surrounding weddings can be more than slightly overwhelming. After months trudging through wedding shoe options, looking for something that caught my imagination, I knew I was stuck!

Traditional creamy satin shoes can be very pretty- for some brides; they are the epitome of their bridal dream. But I’m just not that sort of girl. I wanted my shoes to be inspirational, elegant, quirky, comfortable, original – I could go on and on with a list of adjectives. But I just couldn’t find anything that I liked!

The Debut Collection From Bridal Shoe Designers Merle And Morris Featuring Stylish And Comfortable Wedding Shoes With A Concealed Foam Layer 0001 Recommended Merle & Morris.

Working in the shoe industry, finding my wedding shoes was always going to be tricky – I had a strong idea of what I wanted, and how beautiful and interesting wedding shoes could be. Surely I wasn’t the only bride struggling!?

A chance conversation with a wonderful designer friend showed me that she’d also found it difficult to buy wedding shoes too, she ended up in beautiful black sandals by L’Autre Chose.

So we decided to try and change that – to create the perfect shoe to take you on the journey from bride to wife; to dare brides to think differently about wedding shoe design; to inject some of their own personality into the shoes.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding The Fall.

I am beside myself with glee this afternoon because I can AT LAST share the glorious and final piece of Rock My Wedding editorial of 2013 – The Fall.

If you stopped by the blog on Monday then you’ll have read my post on the inspiration for this Autumn inspired extravaganza.

You’ll know then that we wanted subtle romance, ethereal glamour and natural beauty inspired by Mother Nature herself. Autumnal light is sublime and we were determined to capture this softness and showcase the most stylish gowns and prettiest table settings against it for your viewing pleasure.

So we set about plotting to convince you lovely lot of the tantalising charms of windswept hair, rich colour palettes, Autumn berries and buttersoft blankets against a backdrop of lemon yellow and ruby red leaves.

We scoured the land for the most perfect location and landed upon a beautiful private estate filled with nooks and crannies aplenty. There were woods and fields full of ponies, rustic barns made from weathered oak and old outhouses with handcrafted beams. And I haven’t even begun to mention the lamppost or the redbrick stables…

With so many different ‘scenes’ at our disposal it made sense to devote each set-up to a particular gown. For foxy frockage we worked with two designers that know exactly how to cater for the petite bride – the focus for this particular piece of editorial. Alan Hannah and Charlotte Balbier provided beautiful lace, tulle and slinky embroidered dresses designed with the shorter bride in mind which we paired up with two beauty looks that I’ll describe in more detail shortly…

And who were we going to use to capture our rustic romantic adventure? Well that would be Love Lust Lister Rebekah from Rebekah J.Murray Photography. Rebekah is actually an American photographer who specialises in destination photography but also spends time shooting delectable weddings in the UK. Her awe-inspiring mastery of light and penchant for beautiful detailing suited our vision perfectly and we are bowled over by the results. If you’ve not already chosen your photographers then make sure you take a butchers at her portfolio and exquisite website.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0001 The Fall.

For Abigail’s first scene we leapt upon the charms of Alan Hannah’s ‘Garbo’, a deliciously slinky affair that we knew would harmonise perfectly with a berry lip and the supersized floral crowns that I’d asked Sarah from Mrs Umbels to create for us.

Lashings of hawthorn berries, rose hips and crab apples sat alongside lustrous blooms to form two natural and woodsy but very different headpieces. Sarah also added dried flowers into the mix such as Hydrangea heads and sedum since such combinations would be ‘in keeping with our natural environment in Autumn and is even part of the beauty, a sort of faded grandeur, which is still beautiful but in a more understated way.’ How posh is that folks – straight from the florist’s mouth. Yep we only pick the very very best people to work with.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0002 The Fall.

Honestly I think you’ll agree that Titania, Queen of the Fairies would be hard pressed to find a crown more epic than those that Sarah created for us…and yes I confess to trying both on and posing a bit.

Having spotted the weathered timber barn doors in a pre-shoot recce, I was desperate to feature them in the final editorial so I indulged in a whim and asked Sarah if she’d make a supersized wreath to hang on them. The result is beautiful wouldn’t you agree?

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0003 The Fall.

I always had very specific vision for the beauty looks for ‘The Fall’, cue lots of secret pinning and emails between myself and the make-up genius that is Claire Salter. Having snared the gorgeous Abigail to model for us, it was clear that the beauty looks would revolve around her wonderful flaming red hair.

I also deliberately steered clear of using any headwear or jewellery embellishments in this editorial (apart from the floral circlets) because sometimes folks it just feels right to let the beauty shine through for itself.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0030 The Fall.

Instead it was all about showcasing a variety of different looks from textured, mussed up hair to sleek topknots and from a bold berry lip through to come-to-bed eyes. Think sensual wood nymphs crossed with Miss Riding Hood – perfect for those brides looking to combine a more natural “ceremony” look with something a little edgier for their reception.

I’ll leave it to Claire to tell you a little more…

Claire Salter: When asked to create a couple of looks for ‘The Fall’ my mind went into overdrive just thinking about the amazing colour palettes I could use as well as the great textures I could incorporate into the hair.

For me Autumn is all about crisp dewy mornings, rich tones and warm shades, the twists and turns of the trees with their bare branches and lots of red berries, thistles and golden leaves.

With this in mind I created two hair and make up looks to encapsulate ‘Autumn’. The first
incorporated a dark berry lip and bright dewy skin with flushed autumnal cheeks. We played around with the hair pinning a mixture of low chignons and side dos whilst keeping the look crisp and sleek all the while.

Later on in the day we scaled the beauty look up to include a rich, warm metallic smokey eye with a dewy warm toned lip. The hair styling also became more adventurous too with lots of texture for a modern ‘hair-down’ look as well as an intricately beautiful braided up-do for the finale.

I adore the looks that Claire created for us and as a result I’m very tempted to give the braided updo a whirl in the very near future (the exact products used and the how-to is coming to RMW in the next two weeks folks.)

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 00091 The Fall.

Personally I couldn’t choose a favourite dress (I picked them all for the shoot in the first place as they were on my if-I-were-to-get-married-again-I’d-so-choose-this-one wishlist) but if you were to ask Abigail then I’m pretty sure she’d choose Charlotte Balbier’s ‘Holly’ from the second look.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0004 The Fall.

I’d long been desperate to create a shot with a model holding a truly oversized bouquet against a backdrop of a large floral print – be it fabric or wallpaper. At last ‘The Fall’ provided me with the perfect opportunity to indulge such a whim. Sarah pulled together what I can only describe as a mammoth sized arrangement that was nearly as big as Abigail herself using a plethora of plants including burgundy Cotinus foliage, soft ruscus, hazel and willow stems plus lots of Hydrangea, white waxflower, Roses and Chrysanthemums.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 00051 The Fall.

Our backdrop itself would double up perfectly as a background for your portraits or wedding photo booth. Our version cost about twelve quid and took all of about an hour to make. You can find similar wallpaper in Homebase and B&Q. I’d recommend going in with a firm idea as to what you’re after however folks…honestly you can spend hours in there.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 00061 The Fall.

And then it was off to the woods for some general frolicking in the woods action in the prettiest sleeved French lace gown by Alan Hannah. ‘Connie’ was the perfect dress for Abigail to channel her inner butter-wouldn’t-melt Miss Riding Hood.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0007 The Fall.

Claire deftly changed Abigail’s sleek low chignon into a more relaxed twisted side bun which framed the delicate high round neck perfectly and helped draw attention to the exquisitely embroidered belt.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0008 The Fall.

I also love the sleeve detail; it’s so intricate and delicate you really wouldn’t need to wear anything else at all.

Oh and I couldn’t resist popping Abigail on a lichen-encrusted log next to a white-washed lamppost either…doesn’t she look a picture.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0010 The Fall.

There’s been a long-running-actually-quite-serious joke at RMW Towers about my desire to incorporate an animal of some description into our editorial. Unfortunately this has always been stopped in its tracks by O’Shea and Crohill. They’re actually quite boring really….

So you can imagine how I seized the opportunity whilst they weren’t watching to actually achieve this life-long dream of mine. Yep folks, I managed to slip a doggy friend in there and how adorable is he…

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0011 The Fall.

I’d previously overlooked ‘Flora’ by Charlotte Balbier but the designer herself urged me to give the frock a go – particularly as it was perfect for those brides on the shorter side – and I’m so glad that she did. ‘Flora’ fitted Abigail like a glove with its capped sleeves and its gem-encrusted collar and nipped in waist.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0012 The Fall.

A smaller yet equally beautiful posy of Quicksand Roses, Viburnum berries, brunia and white waxflowers was the perfect accompaniment to Abigail’s tousled hair and modern beauty. How many of you lovelies are considering using vibrant purples and pinks in your big day bouquet?

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0015 The Fall.

We saved Charlotte Balbier’sBelle’ for the finale. How could we not? All frothy, spotty tulle and delicate lace appliqué, Abigail announced that she felt like a princess. There was a universal appreciation for the delicate neckline and the beautiful detailing down the back so it made perfect sense to show this off to perfection by pinning and braiding Abigail’s hair around her face.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0013 The Fall.

I think there is a tendency for modern day brides – particularly pint sized beauties – to steer clear of bigger, frothy dresses for fear of the dress wearing them rather than the other way round. It’s certainly something I associate with from my own experience on my planning journey. The trick is in the fit…honestly it really is. Get the size right and you’ll look as radiant as Abi on your own big day.

Promise.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0014 The Fall.

At this point I want to say that without the hard work of Lauren from Fairly Light I wouldn’t have been able to pull this shoot off. She pulled out all the stops to assist me in the direction of this shoot whilst contributing a few ideas of her own into the mix at the same time. In fact it was Lauren that actually suggested that we style the Autumnal cocktail table you see below for the shoot which I just know you’ll love.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0019 The Fall.

We kept the base of the drinks station deliberately neutral and let the florals, fruits and of course the cocktail itself do the talking. We particularly love a mismatched look hence the use of different goblets and glasses placed at random and the scattering of nuts and foliage.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0018 The Fall.

Have you lovelies thought about a beverage bar at your wedding?

How about hot toddies and cocoa at a Winter soiree or cooling lemonade and gin for summertime festivities?

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0020 The Fall.

No editorial shoot of ours feels complete without a confectionary treat but we were eager to try something different…something that we hadn’t seen the likes of on RMW before.

Behold…The Pie Table.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0024 The Fall.

Set in a sunlit glade and filled to bursting with tarts and pies and miniature puddings, this spread would have made any harvest festival assembly proud. Using a rustic trestle table we created a wide neutral runner from a swathe of the softest oatmeal linen and placed a myriad of different sized logs (that I’d had the boy chopping up the day before) along its length.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0021 The Fall.

Delicious pies, tortes and pastries were positioned on top of the logs so that they formed rustic cake stands and fruits and berries were added into the mix to make it all feel natural and organic. Floral arrangements incorporating medlar fruits and conkers were deliberately chosen to add colour and prevent it feeling too flat.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0022 The Fall.

Mismatched plates, striped napkins, beautiful signage and an ornamental mix of Villandry gourds were added to the table to finish the look off.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0023 The Fall.

Of all the decor set-ups that we created for the fall I looked forward to styling the tablescape the most. Honestly I had dreams about it; it was to be Ralph Lauren Home meets the English countryside meets fairytale magic.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0032 The Fall.

Whether we succeeded in achieving that exact combination I remain uncertain but I do know that I am IN LOVE with the final result. From the outset I knew that I wanted to use a backdrop of blue linen for the tablecloth because the colours of Autumn contrast and harmonise so perfectly against the shade. They visibly pop against it!

It was imperative too that the tablescape be situated in the middle of a forest clearing with a carpet of fallen leaves. Happily nature obliged…

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0028 The Fall.

Rather than opting for a set-up that looked effective from one side, I wanted to create points of interest from all angles… be it a basket of rustic apples, a romantic lantern, scattered gourds or a punnet of conkers and acorns. Admittedly I did have to tell Adam off on several occasions for nicking strategically placed conkers for his collection.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0025 The Fall.

Variety was introduced to the table settings too through mismatched plates – all with a suitable countryside theme …think floral patterns and the odd pheasant here and there – and with the striking colour pop tumblers. We draped comforting knits over chairbacks to keep bodies warm when the night drew in and decked the table in fruits and nuts to draw the eye along.

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0026 The Fall.

It was the talented Mr Crohill that interpreted my demands for something suitably leaf like for the place names and came up with the oak and maple leaf concoction that you see at each setting. He’s a clever one…

Autumn Fall Inspired Wedding Decor and Fashion Editorial by Rock My Wedding With Florals By Mrs Umbels Make up By Claire Salter Photographed By Rebekah J Murray. 0031 The Fall.

But it is the flowers that triumph for me. Sarah used a slightly unusual combination of dusky peach, burgundy, pink, green and various berries for ‘The Fall’ in order to ‘recreate a sense of a walk alongside a native hedgerow, still full of life but colours changing and blending to create an assault on your senses.’ There were Quicksand roses, brunia and viburnum berries as well as thick heads of hydrangea all placed in antiqued silver trophy cups and sugar bowls from my own private collection.

Heavenly.

Did I mention that all of the table stationery, pie signage and cocktail chargers are free for you lovelies to download and use to create your very own? Yep that’s right! Mr Crohill worked tirelessly to create these leafy delights for you folks and the DIY tutorial is coming very soon to RMW.

One of my favourite parts of a real wedding feature is the “getting ready” images of the bride. There is something so beautiful and unique about those moments, the anticipation, the joy – it’s almost like you are being allowed to share a special behind-the-scenes secret.

Stylist and wedding planner Louise Beukes from B.Loved has essentially re-created this scenario and has incorporated some beautiful and feminine boudoir-esque scenes to produce an extraordinarily pretty and unique inspiration shoot.

Rock My Wedding Sponsor Fiona Kelly captured all of the blooms, the delicate and exquisite Ell and Cee lingerie and the dreamy interiors of The George in Rye to perfection. And the colour scheme is just to die for – I can see these images being pinned to within an inch of their life.

Louise at B.Loved: Photographer Fiona Kelly and I shared a vision; to create an undeniably feminine and pretty shoot that captured the dream-like anticipation of a bride getting ready on her wedding morning. We’re both hugely influenced by the beautiful work of Elizabeth Messina, and wanted to capture our version of romantic and beautiful boudoir - without the overtly sexual look often associated with boudoir photography.

I picked a very pared-back palette, using lots of soft ivory, peach and blush tones with the slightest hint of sage green to create an overly romantic and girly look with a grown-up quality.

It was designed to be quite editorial, picking out individual details and beautiful poses to create a very ethereal and dream-like effect. A pretty bedroom and Ballroom at The George in Rye provided the perfect backdrop to set the scene with these soft colours and romantic details.

We also wanted to challenge the typical idea of femininity, choosing a model (the gorgeous Chloe-Jasmine Whichello) with a short, bleached pixie-crop. Sev, from Hepburn Collection, worked his magic with his favourite ‘Milkshake’ products – using Liquid Designer on wet hair before blow drying a soft, tousled style and finishing with Sticky Paste for texture and volume.

Make-Up Artist Mariam Jensen created a flawless base with a dewy finish, picking antique rose colours for the eyes and lip with a soft blush to highlight the cheeks, a natural look for the boudoir shots. For the bridal portraits, Sev added more volume and height to Chloe’s hair and we picked a comb from Connie & Dolly to give her a bridal look. Mariam pumped up the volume on the makeup, with a bold coral lip and stronger eyes and cheeks for a more chiselled look.

Chloe modelled a selection of sheer, floaty lingerie from the new Ell & Cee Bridal collection. Their easy elegance is pretty and sexy without giving too much away – no wonder they’re a favourite choice for brides! For our editorial shots, Benjamina created stunning floral garters and necklaces. We also used a selection of vintage silk and lace veils from Faith Caton-Barber and Kelly Spence to add an ethereal bridal touch to the boudoir shots.

I wanted the flowers to be very whimsical and loose, with trailing foliage spilling out of the arrangements, and garlands becoming entwined and emerging from the interior and furniture. Benjamina from InDeco’s loose and pretty style was perfect! The bouquet and centrepieces were created from a luxurious mix of blush pink hydrangea, piano roses and ranunculus, and displayed in vintage glassware and cut crystal against lace linens, for a timeless look. She also created a delicate hydrangea backdrop for the portrait shots, picking up the muted colours and painterly effect of the décor.

Faith Caton-Barber from Faith Caton-Barber Bespoke Bridalwear :- I designed the gentle fishtail silhouette dress ‘Dusty’ especially for the shoot after Louise shared her vision for the whole look. I used a soft pink silk and trimmed it with cream silk ruffles, to create something feminine, romantic, and to paraphrase the Hollywood costume designer, Edith Head, “tight enough to show she’s a woman, and loose enough to show she’s a lady”

Krishanthi from Cakes by Krishanthi: – I took my cue from the elegant mood board that Louise created. It had lots of blooms and neutral tones that really captured the whole ‘boudoir’ feel.  I was eager to create a design that had a sense of pure indulgence and elegance.  The bow on the middle tier was inspired by lacy lingerie to add a touch of that lush boudoir feel to the cake.

I have to admit, I am sorely tempted after finally deciding on the colour scheme for the master bedroom to completely change EVERYTHING so I can make it look just like this shoot.

And I must just add something about Louise from B.Loved, her submissions are always beautifully branded and presented with not a single detail missed, I am certain that her wedding planning and specific styling abilities are of an equally excellent standard.

Please do have a look at her website should you be in the position of considering someone super orgnised (and super stylish) to assist with making your W-day dreams come true.

Those of you who are regulars to these glorious pages of wedding pretty will no doubt be aware of my attempts to offer advice and big day succor to you through the medium of these ‘Ask Lolly’ posts.

Charlotte actually chatted about our decision to make this a regular feature in her post last week and from the overwhelming response to our Ask Lolly inbox, we’re guessing that you folks wholeheartedly approve.

This week I’ll be attempting to soothe the furrowed brow of the lovely Lorna who has got her knickers in a twist about her wedding lingerie (sorry Lorna I just couldn’t resist!).

Take it away Lorna…

Hi Lolly

I’m struggling and need your help! Having been happily planning our wedding for the past year, I’m struggling to find the right underwear to purchase for ‘the wedding night’ and/or to take on honeymoon. Just in case we end up a bit too drunk/keen/excited/forgetful and I don’t manage to change out of my wedding dress into said underwear on the wedding night.

My wedding dress doesn’t actually need any underwear to go with it, as it perfectly holds me in on its own. However, for this reason I really want an amazing set of underwear to have for my wedding night. But can I even work out where to start – nope.

I don’t really want it to be white and overly complicated – no peep holes and nipple tassels for this bride. All hints and tips appreciated, especially as our wedding is 4th January and I want to try and get myself organised before hosting Christmas for the family at our new house.  It’s been a busy 2013!

Thanks a million

Lorna x

Oh Lorna you really are a girl after my own heart aren’t you! You probably already know that I cultivate a somewhat unhealthy obsession with lingerie so helping you with this particular dilemma is a bit of a treat for me on this gloomy Monday afternoon.

Let’s get started then.

A Beautiful Lingerie Inspiration And Fashion Post Sharing The Prettiest Underwear For Your Wedding Night And Honeymoon. 0001 Ask Lolly Ive Got My Knickers In A Twist

You mentioned in your letter that you were keen to avoid lingerie within the white colour spectrum or which is overcomplicated in its construction. I’ve borne both these specifications in mind during my search for the perfect pair of panties. I’ve also taken a slightly liberal approach and assumed that you might change on the wedding night into ‘something a little more comfortable’ which means that my selection isn’t just comprised of knicker and bra sets. That said a good proportion of the choices below could quite easily slip under your wedding dress too.

Since you didn’t mention any sizing requirements or a price range I’ve taken a pretty expansive approach that caters to all body types and price brackets. Hopefully you’ll find something that will set your (and his) heart on fire.

So to begin then let’s cross over to the dark side. All strokeable silks and gossamer thin lace, black lingerie is both sexy and timeless all at the same time. My particular favourite is the charcoal floaty silk camisole from Fleur Of England with the delicate lace insert in the middle here complete with matching knickers. Perfect for multiple other uses too.

Now I know you mentioned a ban on nipple tassles but how about a bit of fringing instead to release your inner cowgirl. Fox & Rose have their own chainmail number but I love the verstability of the La Perla set in the middle. The macramé detail is divine, the fringing is detachable and the straps also come off which means you’ve got about three outfits for the price of one right there.

Your other half won’t know what’s hit them.

Granted, a dark colour scheme is not going to be to everyone’s taste but I’m also conscious Lorna that you were keen to steer clear of overly ‘bridal’ tones, i.e. whites and creams. Instead I’ve scooped up the best fripperies in love lorn shades and spun sugar concoctions.

We have dainty ribbons, whispers of lace, spaghetti straps and chiffon frills in baby blues, pineapple yellows and blush pinks all for your viewing pleasure.

There’s perhaps less lingerie ‘sets’ here and more of a focus on silky body suits, chiffon-light maxi-dresses and satin slips which are beautiful and will transfer easily from wedding morning to night and all the way into your honeymoon too.

Looking back on my own wedding day I wished that I’d bought something more alluring to lounge around in during the morning preparations because if there’s ever a time to splash out on seductive ‘loungewear’ then your wedding day surely has to be it. Just something to think about anyway…

And that Emerson Fry blush bodysuit comes with its own matching silken pouch too.

Immense.

Lastly I couldn’t resist picking a selection for you in provocative scarlet. Yes it’s probably a cliche but I had my very own set of crimson silk for my wedding night and after the off-white alabaster palette of the wedding day it made the boy’s eyes pop.

Raspberry reds, neon orange, crimson overlaid with blush pink lace; there’s literally something for everyone to slink seductively from day to night.

My favourite here is probably the bordeaux beauty from Elle Macpherson Intimates. I love the floral lace and the keyhole satin detailing on both the bra and the frilly briefs and I always find that her range fits so many different shapes…she does come up a bit small though so I’d probably recommend going up a size.

So there you have it Lorna pet. Hopefully I’ve helped you out a little in your search for the perfect set of smalls. I hope your wedding night is every bit as wild as you imagine…

Unique and sequin brial gowns wedding dresses Hidden Gems Try It, You Might Like It.

We hear it time and time again, fashion forward brides-to-be who would love to wear a wedding gown that is a bit different and unique, something that wouldn’t necessarily look out of place on a catwalk but would be just as show-stopping for your journey down the aisle.

It would seem that more often than not however that many of you don’t even necessarily try what could be the dress of your dreams. And we are not entirely sure why that is exactly.

Is it because others (friends, family, work colleagues, anyone who fancies putting their two pennies worth in) have already laid down the rules of what you should wear as a bride?

Is it because you just don’t think certain styles would suit you?

Is it because you have your own deep rooted ideals of what you should wear for the big day regardless of what might make your heart sing?

Whatever the reason, we thought we would invite some of our fashion pack members to discuss some of their own designs that are not on their “bestseller” list. Hidden Gems if you will.

We’ll then invite you gorgeous lot to leave your comments on the featured frockage and why you have chosen the number that you have (or the one you are at least thinking of!)

Would you try any of these dresses?

Which one is your favourite? and is there a gown that you just can’t stop thinking about?

Do let us know – and don’t be afraid to leave the reasons why the featured designs may not be your particular cup of tea, it’s good to get a discussion going and it’s useful feedback for Team RMW and our Fashion Pack members.

Twobirds Bridesmaids mint green dress Pretty Pastels From Twobirds Bridesmaids!

As much as it is nearly Christmas (12 sleeps people) it is also nearly Spring – not long now until we start to see all of the beautiful blooms associated with (my favourite) season.

I always think of a soft feminine palette, pale yellow daffodils, bluebells, snowdrops and an array of pink cherry blossom. Gorgeous.

One of our Fashion Pack members Twobirds Bridesmaids is introducing some Spring like shades for the new year making their already vast array of available hues even more covetable.

I like the lilac “heather” best. No wait, the duck egg is very pretty, hmmm but I do love a mint manicure come the warmer months. Hold on, I know what’s always my favourite – Peach!

Made from a luxe light weight jersey (excellent quality – we should know, we’ve stroked them and everything) they also make beautiful evening frocks/and or summer maxi numbers for your maids to wear again and again.
